Illinois State Revenue Analysis for Fiscal Year 2008 First 8 Months
SPRINGFIELD- For the sixth year in a row, since ITEF began tracking state revenue, total Illinois state revenue is significantly up from the previous year, according to data from the Illinois Comptroller’s website. So far this year-Fiscal Year 2008 starting July 1, 2007, and ending June 30, 2008—total tax revenue for the first 8 months has increased $1.5 billion over the first 8 months of FY2007.

The National Taxpayers United of Illinois is launching a media campaign to oppose Senate Bill 2288 which would raise your state income tax by 67%. Three radio commercials have already been produced and you can hearing them today on the radio. It is extremely important that the taxpayers let their voices be heard on this tax increase.

Taxpayers Ask State Senate To Kill Harmful Income Tax-Hike Bill SB2288

CHICAGO—The president of Illinois’ largest taxpayer organization urged taxpayers to call their state senators and ask that they vote “No” on Senate Bill 2288, sponsored by M. Maggie Crotty (D-19, Oak Forest), Michael Noland (D-22, Elgin) and Kimberly Lightford (D-4, Westchester), which last week was sent to the senate floor by the Senate Education Committee. “The tax increases in this bill are not only unnecessary, but would devastate the Illinois economy,” said Jim Tobin, President of National Taxpayers United of Illinois (NTUI).
