Illinois Governor Patrick Quinn wants to raise your state income taxes up to 67%. He claims this is necessary to fill an $11.5 billion state budget gap. What he doesn’t say is that the state will receive $11.5 billion in federal stimulus funds, which would completely fill the gap.

Jim Tobin, President of National Taxpayers United of Illinois, will be speaking at the August 26th Fox Valley Libertarian Party (FVLP) meeting.  He will discuss the proposed 67% state income tax increase and on how third parties have helped NTUI defeat past state income tax hikes.

The FVLP meets the last Wednesday of each month at Village Pizza and Pub, 2496 N. Randall Road in Elgin. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. with a social hour, followed by the business meeting and speaker.
